Oaklawn officially opens its doors on Feb. 11 in Elkhart.

1973

Oaklawn becomes the Community Mental Health Center for Elkhart County.

1987

Oaklawn expands to Goshen, opening an inpatient hospital.

2006

Laurie Nafziger becomes Oaklawn’s third President & CEO; Oaklawn completes its first Capital Campaign.

2010

Oaklawn becomes the Community Mental Health Center for St. Joseph County.

2013

Oaklawn moves residential treatment for youth to Mishawaka.

2014

Oaklawn therapists begin providing on-call assessments at St. Joseph ER.

2017

Oaklawn partners with South Bend Heritage Foundation for Oliver Apartments.

2018

Oaklawn recovery coaches begin on-call program meeting with overdose survivors at Memorial ER.

2019

Oaklawn launches a mobile response team serving opioid users.

2021

Oaklawn pursues status as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. Embarks on a second Capital Campaign for our South Bend campus.

Oaklawn's Current Building:

We have an interested buyer with plans to sell this building when we move into our new space.

Oaklawn Apartments & Training Rooms

Training rooms on the first floor will be renovated into a multi-functional, technically advanced training hub for all Oaklawn staff and community events.
