Give to the Oaklawn Foundation

See How Your Gift Makes a Difference

Every day, individuals and families in our community face mental health and substance use challenges, and too often, the need for care is urgent. The Oaklawn Foundation ensures that help is available when it matters most.

The Foundation strengthens and sustains the mental health and addiction treatment services provided by Oaklawn. Your generosity fills critical gaps left by insurance and public funding, making it possible for Oaklawn to respond quickly, serve compassionately and care for everyone, regardless of ability to pay.

Programs You Support through the Oaklawn Foundation

When you give to the Oaklawn Foundation, you are investing in prevention, crisis response, recovery, and long-term stability for our community.

The most powerful way to implement change is to reach people early — before challenges become chronic conditions. With your support, Oaklawn provides prevention and early intervention programs that protect children, strengthen families and reduce the need and expense for more intensive services later.

Suicide Prevention

Your donation helps fund suicide prevention efforts that equip people across our community to recognize warning signs, respond effectively and save lives. These efforts include suicide prevention training, such as Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), for community members, school staff and frontline professionals. These programs empower individuals to intervene confidently when someone is at risk and to connect them to lifesaving care.

Camp Mariposa

Camp Mariposa is a free weekend camp for children ages 9–17 whose families have been impacted by addiction. Your support gives kids a safe place to connect, heal and build protective factors that keep them from developing their own substance use disorder. By intervening early, we help break cycles of trauma and addiction and offer hope to children who need it now.

When someone is in crisis, the right response can be lifesaving. The Oaklawn Foundation helps ensure timely, compassionate crisis services are available, when every moment counts.

Oaklawn Crisis Services

Your gift helps fund Oaklawn’s crisis services for youth, families and adults experiencing acute mental health or substance use emergencies. These services provide rapid response, stabilization and connection to ongoing care, helping prevent inpatient hospitalization, incarceration and emergency room visits. Because crisis care is not always fully reimbursed, philanthropic support is essential. Donors help close urgent funding gaps so help is available at the exact moment it’s needed.

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training with Law Enforcement

In many crises, the first call is to 911. Through Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training, Oaklawn partners with local law enforcement to ensure officers are prepared to respond safely and effectively to mental health and substance use crises. Donor support helps fund training that equips officers with de-escalation skills, mental health awareness and pathways to treatment, helping to reduce injuries and improve outcomes. Your generosity helps create safer encounters and stronger connections to care across our community.

Your support helps remove barriers that may prevent clients from engaging fully in care. The Foundation helps provide:

  • Short-term prescription assistance to keep clients stable
  • HIP 2.0 premium payments
  • Replacement of vital documents (such as birth certificates and Social Security cards) needed to access benefits
  • Bus cards to help clients make it to and from appointments
  • Goodwill gift certificates for individuals moving from homelessness into permanent housing

At Oaklawn, no one is denied mental health or addiction treatment because they cannot afford it. We serve patients regardless of ability to pay, and the Oaklawn Foundation helps fund charity care when financial barriers exist.

“Everyone is impacted by mental illness and addiction. For me, it’s one of the top mental health issues to address, and one I want to roll up my sleeves to be involved with.”
