Oaklawn has received reports from several people (outside our local area) who indicate our phone number has been spoofed. Spoofing is a practice where scammers will disguise their caller ID by using someone else’s phone number. We’ve contacted local authorities and our phone vendor, but unfortunately, there’s little they can do. We wanted to make our community aware of this practice, as well as remind everyone not to give out personal information in unsolicited calls. According to the FCC, scammers switch phone numbers often (as frequently as every few hours), and this is likely a short-term situation.
